This week’s theme for the 52 Week Project was low key. This type of photography features more dark tones and colors than high key images. Low key images often have a feeling of drama and mystery to them from the reduced lighting.
This week the cats were the models. Miss Lilly (who is easily fascinated by moving light) the tabby and white cat and the adorable grey and white Tootsie. Without an umbrella and more powerful speed light that is often used in low key photography, I opted for some very bright middle of the day light from the window by my desk.
Next visit Jessica Wasik with Bark & Gold Photography, celebrating the joy and love between Pittsburgh pets and their people, to see how she created low key images.
Very impressed you accomplished this perfectly with window light! LOVE the variety of images – nicely done!
These are fabulous. Great use of window light!
I am having a hard time deciding which image(s) are my favorite. I love the kitties, and they did a great job as models!
Great images, love photographing cats
Great shots!
Great work! I wanted to try my cat, but Diana is least cooperative of all my subjects.
Both Tootsie and Lilly are pretty cooperative. Tootsie was on my chair and content to play with the string on my hoodie so I just moved the chair to get the light to where I wanted it. Lilly is super fascinated with lights and also mugs for a camera. The toughest part with her is if the light moves she chases it! So reflections off of my camera were distracting her, but was also the same reason why she ended up on the chair next to Tootsie in the light haha.
Wonderful use of window light – Works beautifully with your model! The whiskers are my favorite 🙂
You have some very cooperative cats. Love them all.
What a patient model you have there! Beautiful job!
These are beautiful!
Love these shots – especially the first and that completely overhead shot. The whiskers are perfectly illuminated!
Amazing that these were window light! Love the first image!
