FAQ

All those burning questions you have in regards to your session!

Do you photograph cats?

Yes! I do photograph cats! Sessions with them are slower paced and run on their schedule to make them comfortable. ALWAYS done at your house or in your yard.

Additionally I photograph horses, turtles, rabbits, and most other critters you may have as a pet. (The only nope for me is BUGS!)

Can I be in the pictures too? What about my family?

YES! YES to both! I love capturing the bond you share with your dog and how they fit perfectly into your family.

Don’t worry about your dog making perfect eye contact (esp with two + dogs) – I will be taking a rapid series of images to head swap if need be!

Younger children may lose focus quickly so we’ll do family pictures right away and let them relax the rest of the session.

What if my dog won't sit still?

Don’t stress! My camera has a mega fast shutter speed (20 FPS – frames per second – for those tech nerds out there) which means no matter how bouncy your dog there will be ample micro-seconds to capture her personality and mid air antics!

What if my dog can't be off leash?

Keep the leash ON! A leash will keep your dog safe and wrangled in the area that makes for perfect portraits. Leashes will “magically” be removed giving the impression that your dog is an off leash superstar.

Will you edit out my dog's harness?

Nope. If your dog is wearing a harness during your session that lovely thing will be in your images. (Note Bender above).

If your dog’s harness is part of his or her personality then we will let your dog rock it! Otherwise we can do “wardrobe changes” with the harness on to the spot we want to stop, leash clipped to collar, harness off, pictures, then harness back on and we carry on.

Prong collars will also be left on, as will electronic collars. Decide if you want them in your images or not.

Do you have a studio?

Technically, no I don’t have a studio.

In reality though, I have studio lights and backdrops, a portable studio vs a brick & mortar. You can come to me and we’ll hang out in the garage (it does get chilly in the winter) for stunning studio images with white, black and various fun colors OR I can load it all up and set up in your house or garage. If you have neutral walls (white, cream or grey) we won’t need a backdrop.

Otherwise I have backdrops! Seamless paper in black, white, pink, light blue, red and dark green (no pictures with the dark green yet!) and fabric backdrops in a textured purple, teal, clouds and leaves.

How far do you travel?

Where do you want to go? I live in St. Cloud and make regular trips to the Twin Cities and places between. We can meet in your neck of the woods or meet halfway and explore somewhere new! Otherwise we can head up to Duluth & the North Shore, south / east to the bluffs along the Minnesota & Wisconsin border or west to… prairie haha! If our trip is longer than an hour from St. Cloud or the Twin Cities there will be a mileage fee.

What if there is rain in the forecast?

I will be watching the weather very aggressively throughout the day. If it looks like rain is eminent I will contact you 2 hours PRIOR to our session time to plan a reschedule. Yes the weather can change in the span of 2 hours, but I’d rather play it cautious vs be halfway there and the weather goes from rain to monsoon!

There is no additional fee to reschedule your session!

What about other weather?

If it snows, we’ll embrace it for adorable pictures of your pup covered in snowflakes. If it is a blizzard before we start, we will talk rescheduling. If it turns into a blizzard during your session we will call it early.

If it is MEGA hot out (90+) we will have the reschedule conversation. Short coated breeds may handle the heat better than double coated and arctic breeds. Smoosh face dogs also don’t handle super hot temps so we will reschedule for a cooler day. (BTW I recommend spring & fall for comfortable temps for smoosh faced dogs.)

If it is FREEZE YOUR ASS OFF cold (colder than 20 degrees / with or without windchill) we will reschedule for a different time. Below 20 degrees can be hard on dog feet, as well as human fingers & toes.

Windy, your session stays for date and time. Unless of course it is a tornado…

Theo - About A Dog Photography

I want all the pictures! Do you have a payment plan?

Yes!!! And it is interest free!

It is easy peasy to get set up. We’ll figure out your total (your order will have to be manually entered vs ordered from your gallery) then figure out how to break it down more comfortably and a date to get it in motion. From there you will get a monthly invoice until the amount is paid.

Once your print order is paid in full the images will head to get full edits and tweaks. Digitals will then head your way, while images to be turned into prints will be headed to the professional printing lab.

What if I want to order more prints or digital images? Is there a time limit on ordering?

You can totally order more prints ANYTIME!

I do keep images stored for roughly a bazillion years which means we can cue up your session and order digitals and prints anytime.

** I dropped an external hard drive in early 2019 that had 2017 & 2018 clients on it. If your images were on this hard drive they MIGHT be in the recovered files I have, otherwise we are out of luck.

Is there anything included in a session?

As of 2025, all sessions will include digital images!

  • Digital Dog Sessions include 5 digital images
  • Short & Sweet Sessions include 2 digital images
  • Teenie Weenie Sessions include 1 digital image

All additional prints, wall art, albums, acrylic blocks and digital images are available as ala carte.

Do you offer digital images?

HECK YES!

And they are WHOPPERS! Full size and include full printing rights. So you can make all the mugs, socks and billboards to your hearts content. Or share them with grandparents, friends and your dog’s friends. (Just don’t say you created them or sell them!)
