This session hails from the archives — all the way back to 2017! My gear and editing may have evolved since then, but the joy, personality, and tail wags are timeless. Some moments just deserve another round in the spotlight, and this one still makes me smile.
(Originally photographed in 2017. Part of the “From the Vault” series — rediscovering some of my favorite classic sessions!)
Josie an adventurous pup + a summer day + Quarry Park equals an EPIC dog photography session! She bounced, posed, strolled, jumped in the swamp and happily chased her ball.
We started on with posing on the rocks around quarrys 18 & 13. Josie was leashed so she didn’t launch off the quarry and treat herself to a swim.
We followed the path to the prairie for some ball catching. Ooo wee this girl was athletic! From the prairie we found some quaint birch trees to hang out in.
We wrapped up on the floating boardwalk in a swatch of golden light that broke through the moody clouds. Such a dreamy way to end an awesome session at Quarry Park!
Bonus for Josie was being able to pursue her ball in the swamp.
With its mix of rugged rock, winding trails, and soft evening light, Quarry Park brings a touch of adventure and a dash of magic to every photo. It’s one of those places where dogs can explore, play, and just be dogs — and that’s where the best portraits happen.
